The HEALTH of Dark Chocolate
Recently, numerous studies have been done in hopes of finding that chocolate has health benefits. After all, when chocolate was first discovered, one of the reasons people ate it was for its health benefits. So it's not that farfetched to think that it is possible for chocolate to be healthy to some extent. Guess what the studies showed? That chocolate (more specifically dark chocolate, ) is good for you. 




Doesn't this dark chocolate look tasty?

Studies have shown that dark chocolate is full of flavonoids that reduce the levels of "bad" cholesterol in your body. What does this mean? It means you're at a decreased risk for developing heart disease. In addition, if you eat 3.5 ounces of dark chocolate a day, you can reduce your blood pressure. Bear in mind, these studies show that it's dark chocolate, not any other kinds of chocolate, that provide these health benefits. Just make sure you don't eat your treat and drink milk with it. The milk can make the health benefits of eating this, well, less beneficial. 

The point we're trying to make is that you should enjoy dark chocolate, but enjoy it in moderation. Remember, it still has calories and sugar, and if you're watching your weight, calories and sugar are a huge consideration. If you have high blood pressure, absolutely eat 3.5 ounces of chocolate a day. Just cut back on calories somewhere else to compensate. After all, these findings aren't meant to be an excuse for a binge--it's just happy news about chocolate.
