Why do we love chocolate chip cookies?

Mostly we love chocolate chip cookies because of how great they taste, but also because they are a source of comfort to many of us who feel a sense of safety and home when we eat them or smell them baking. When we were still so young and had our first sleep overs, making our first batches of cookies by ourselves without the help of mom.
