Candy

Candy is typically a favorite staple food for kids, but there's plenty of candy that adults enjoy as well.

Candy

When you're a kid, all kinds of candy are appealing to you, but when you grow up, you out grow a lot of those tastes. Or do you?

Candy for Kids

Many different candy makers market their candies directly at kids. Sometimes it's obvious from the name of the candy, like Laffy Taffy, Nerds, Lemonheads, Air Heads, Gummy Bears, Runts, Pez, Double Bubble, Milk Duds, etc. You never outgrow the taste of some of these, but as you get older, you definitely acquire a more sophisticated chocolate taste, especially if it's chocolate candy.

Once you learn about chocolate candy, candy as you used to know it will never be the same. Most chocolate candy is in the form of candy bars, and it can be a basic chocolate bar or chocolate with any of the following (or a combination of two or more of the following):

Most of these fillings can also be found in boxes of assorted chocolates, like Russell Stover's, Whitman's, Godiva, etc. (Once you get into these types of chocolates, a basic Snicker's bar will never be the same.)

Candy for Adults

Once you're an adult, you may develop a more refined taste when it comes to candy. When was the last time you ate a Jolly Rancher? Did you enjoy it as much as you did as a kid? More than likely though, whenever you hear of candy, you want something chocolate. Sure, a basic candy bar from the grocery store will satisfy a chocolate craving, but if your tastes are really refined, only gourmet chocolate will do. And that can get expensive. It may be a treat you only allow yourself to have once in a while. But once in a while is enough for the sake of your health--and your teeth--unless it's dark chocolate. Then an ounce a day is A-OK!
